Our goal is to spread happiness and we like to do this in different ways. So next to creating and making Phing-Things as gifts, we are also initiating different PROJECTS to bring more happiness into this world
The 1000 Phing-Things project
‘If you bring art to people, they must become part of it’With ‘the 1000 Phing-Thing project’ we, Phing-Things, flog in the domain of humans. We will stand with thousands of us somewhere in a public space where every unexpected visitor is able to see us. By just standing here we change the way people experience this place and will give them a smile on their face. We spread happiness!
But we don’t believe art is a static thing, we want people to become part of this project. So before we appear we asked people what they would wish for the fellow man. These wishes we put on our back. When we have been standing in this public space for a while (a day, our week) we ask people to take us home with them. So they will not only get us, to spread some happiness, but they also will get a nice wish from someone they don’t know. This way a connection is made between two total strangers. We like to work on multiple levels.
The first ‘1000 Phing-Thing’ was held in London at the Inner temple garden in 2015. It is our aim to this in every major city in the world.
Phing-Thing Painting Project.
‘Brings artists together, and let them do what they do best, make beautifully things and by doing this help children in need’The ‘Phing-Thing Painting project’ is a way to raise money for charities by create unique piece of art. In this project we collaboration with galleries around the world. In co-operation with a gallery we ask local artists to paint one of us. The gallery will sell these customized Phing-Things and the money will go to charities who help children in need
We are doing this event annually in London with Ben Oakley Gallery which has proven to be a great success. The artists really love painting us and we have raised more than £ 8000,- for the charity with these shows. Now we are working with galleries in Singapore, Bali and Miami, to set up more events. But we are always looking for new galleries around who would like to become part of this positive movement and help children in need with art.
Recycled plastic Phing-Thing project
‘Make your own Phing-Thing from recycled plastic project’’Now we are made from wood and plaster, but it is our wish to also been made from recycled plastic. We would like to help cleaning up the oceans and to make something nice from the plastic soup. The first stage in developing this project has begun and we are working now with different non-profit organization. One of the ideas is that we will go to beaches and festivals where people can come to us, with plastic they have found and from this plastic we will make a Phing-Thing.
